"They Came Together" movie quotes spoof the best romantic comedies in this satirical film. David Wain directed using a script he co-wrote with Michael Showalter. After opening at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2014, "They Came Together" opened in theaters on June 27, 2014.
In "They Came Together," Joel (Paul Rudd) and Molly (Amy Poehler) fall in love, in the typical rom-com cliche way, as unlikely partners. Things are going great, especially since their whole relationship is something out of a bad, corny romance movie. But neither can realize how good they have it and after long, they begin to fight and swiftly break up.
Joel is tempted by his ex Tiffany (Cobie Smulders) and Molly begins dating her extremely annoying accountant Eggbert (Ed Helms). But this satirical spoof on romantic comedies surely cannot end that way. It must follow the others and end with Joel and Molly rushing back to one another, because that's just how rom-coms end.
"They Came Together" comes to theaters already filled with other great films including "Transformers: Age of Extinction," "Snowpiercer," "Begin Again," "Think Like a Man Too," "22 Jump Street, "How to Train Your Dragon 2," "Hellion," "The Rover," The Fault in Our Stars," "Edge of Tomorrow," "A Million Ways to Die in the West," "Maleficent," "Night Moves," "Filth," "Blended," "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "The Immigrant," "The Love Punch, "The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, "Million Dollar Arm," "Godzilla," "Palo Alto," and "Chef."

You Get It Now?
Oliver: "You get it now, Mr. Combines Traits That We All Represent and All You Need to Do Is Put It All Together and It Will Be Just Fine Guy?"
Oliver and Joel's friends try to talk some sense into Joel. They see him as quite the catch, but he doesn't apply himself.
All Hail Joel!
Roland: "All hail Joel! … Trevor, didn't you hear? You're fired! Now get out of here before I change my mind!"
Trevor: "No, I want you to change your mind! Then I'll still have a job!"
Joel is in and Trevor is out, or is Trevor out. It doesn't sound like boss Roland is sure about what he's saying.
You Noticed
Joel: "Hey, you look different."
Molly: "Really? You think so?"
Joel: "You've got Groucho glasses on."
Molly: "You noticed."
Molly receives the response from her man that she wanted. He noticed that she changed her appearance. But really, how could he miss that?
Go Jump in a Lake, Meathead
Molly: "Go jump in a lake, meathead!"
The s*** hits the fan during a dinner when Molly and Joel fight. While the glass of water she throws at him is empty, he still reacts as if actual water hit him.
Yummy, Yummy in My Tummy
Eggbert: "Yummy, yummy in my tummy! It's hot, hot, hot!"
Eggbert thinks he's being cute when enjoying a dinner date with Molly, but really, it's just annoying and he should really stop.
Corny, Romantic Comedy Kind of Story
Kyle: "So, Joel, Molly, how'd you two meet?"
Molly: "Kind of a corny, romantic comedy kind of story"
Joel: "That's, that's true!"
Karen: "Well, great story!"
Kyle: "Yeah, we should get together again very soon!"
Karen: "Yes!"
Joel: "We're not done!"
Molly: "Yeah, sit down."
Karen: "Well actually, you know, it's getting so late."
Molly: "Sit your ass down, Karen!"
Kyle: "Your story really is like a corny movie!"
Molly: "I know! The only difference is, it's not a movie! It's our real life!"
Joel and Molly describe how they met to friends Kyle and Karen. It sounds like something out of a cheesy romance movie and they break the fourth wall to poke fun at that very fact.
You Like Fiction Books?
Molly: "You like fiction books? I've never met anyone else who likes fiction! That is too funny!"
Molly is smitten with Joel after learning that he too enjoys reading fiction books. What are the odds that she'd stumble on a man who likes the same wide range of reading material that she does?
They Came Together!
Brenda: "They came together!"
Molly and Joel: [in unison] "No, we didn't."
The honeymoon is clearly over between Molly and Joel. Despite showing up in matching costumes, they clearly deny coming together.
