Chappie movie quotes follow what happens when an experimental police robot is taught to think for itself, much to the displeasure of those who fear artificial intelligence is too unpredictable to allow to exist. The science fiction movie was written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, based off of a 2004 short film he also created titled Tetra Vaal. Chappie opened in theaters in IMAX on March 6, 2015.
In Chappie, a robotic police force known as scouts has been created to keep the peace and, for the most part, the program has been a success. But when some humans, including Deon Wilson (Dev Patel), begin to dislike the program, they find a way to fight back. So, along with Ninja (Watkin Tudor Jones) and Yolandi (Yolandi Visser), Deon reengineers one of the robots to think for itself.
Named Chappie (Sharlto Copley), the robot is exposed to various learning sources, like a developing child, with the hopes that it will come out as a well-rounded, educated and enlightened being, which also might be programed to go to battle to take down the robot police force. It doesn't take long for soldier Vincent Moore (Hugh Jackman), under the orders of Michelle (Sigourney Weaver), to discover this rogue droid and stage a full on battle between the sides. And while Vincent knows what he and the programmed droids will do in battle, Chappie remains the wild card as his free will makes him unpredictable, at best.
Chappie hits theaters still buzzing from the great films that opened in February 2014 including The Lazarus Effect, Maps to the Stars Hot Tub Time Machine 2, and McFarland, USA.

A Thinking Robot
Michelle: A thinking robot could be the end of mankind!
Restating the obvious, Michelle reminds folks that once you give robots the ability to learn, you open the door for them to learn more than humans and exterminate them.
Chappie, You Must Fight
Deon Wilson: There's something of great danger headed our way now.
Chappie: I don't want to die. I want to live.
Ninja: If you want to survive, Chappie, you must fight!
Deon warns Chappie that a great battle is ahead and to survive, he has to fight back. Chappie, not wanting to die--if robot's can even do such a think--takes the bait.
Stop Worrying About These Pet Projects
Vincent Moore: They have a robot that is operated by a thinking human being.
Michelle: The scouts are a huge success. Stop worrying about these pet projects.
Vincent expresses his concerns about Deon's work with artificial intelligence with Michelle. She thinks he is overreacting, but perhaps she doesn't truly grasp just how rogue Deon has become.
A Black Sheep
Yolandi Visser: You know what's a black sheep?
Chappie: No.
Yolandi Visser: It's like when you're different than everyone else.
Yolandi explains to Chappie that some people are considered black sheep because they are not like everyone else. Chappie fits this description especially well.
You're a Bunch of Wires
Vincent Moore: You think you're a hero? You're a bunch of wires.
Vincent confronts Chappie and knocks his ego down a few pegs. Chappie thinks he is real, a hero, but Vincent reminds him that he's nothing more but a bunch of wires.
Keep It Gangster
Ninja: Chappie, if you want to be in the gang, you have to be cool like Daddy. Look at Daddy walk. Look how cool he is. Gotta keep it gangster.
Chappie: Gotta keep it gangster.
Ninja: Yeah, be cool.
Chappie: Don't laugh, I'm being cool.
Ninja: When you point a gun, you have to be cool like this. Boom! You try.
Chappie: No, I can't shoot people.
Ninja: What?
Chappie: I can't shoot shoot them. They didn't do anything to me.
Ninja: How you going to do the heist with us if you don't shoot people?
Ninja attempts to teach Chappie how to keep it gangster. But when keeping it gangster involves shooting innocent people, Chappie takes issue with that on moral grounds. How human of him.
Destroy That Robot!
Vincent Moore: Listen, this is the work of Deon. This is the work of some filthy, rogue program that he's been writing and, last night, he brought a droid in here and it was sentient. And have you seen this? Do you know about this?
Michelle: I told him no!
Vincent Moore: Okay, that's a lot worse than just failing to work. So let's use this situation to make a certain other robot shine.
Michelle: Do it! Destroy that robot. Burn it to ash!
Vincent approaches Michelle to demand permission to take out Chappie. He makes a good case and Michelle gives the order to destroy the robot. Get the popcorn. This is going to be good.
A New Kind of Life Form
Deon Wilson: I think I've cracked it. This is a new kind of life form, a new step in evolution.
Deon is elated to learn that he's figured out how to allow the robot to think for itself. He sees this as a new step in evolution but maybe fails to grasp the risks he is opening up.
The Problem With Artificial Intelligence
Vincent Moore: The problem with artificial intelligence is it's way too unpredictable.
Vincent points out one deal-breaker for him with artificial intelligence. When you teach a robot to think for itself, there is no way to predict what it will do next.
I Am Alive
Chappie: I am consciousness. I am alive. I am Chappie.
Deon Wilson: You're the one, a machine that can think and feel. You must bring peace to a world in chaos. Remember, no matter what happens, you were made for good.
While Deon has given Chappie free will in life, he does remind the robot that he is there for good. Deon wants peace and hopes that Chappie will provide just that.
