Everest Movie Quotes
Everest movie quotes tell the true story of the 1996 Everest climbing disaster in a IMAX 3D feature film. The adventure thriller was written by William Nicholson and Simon Beaufoy using the real events as the basis for the story. Directed by Baltasar Kormakur, Everest opened in theaters on September 18, 2015.

In Everest, the story of two teams, led my experienced climbers Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) and Scott Fischer (Jake Gyllenhaal), make the trek to the peak of Mount Everest along with a team of unexperienced climbers including doctor Beck Weathers (Josh Brolin), mailman Doug Hansen (John Hawkes), journalist Jon Krakauer (Michael Kelly) and others.

But things go from incredibly difficult to gravely dangerous when a blizzard strikes the area. With varied climbing experience and a high-risk environment, the teams must work together to get off the mountain safely, or die trying.

Also starring the likes of Kiera Knightley, Robin Wright and Sam Worthington, Everest opened alongside other great films like The Perfect Guy, The Visit Before We Go, and The Transporter: Refueled.

You've Gotta Come On Down
Jan Arnold: Rob, can you hear me? You've gotta keep moving. You've gotta come on down. If anyone can make it, you can.

Jan knows that husband Rob Hall is in grave danger after the series of disasters which threatened Rob and his team. She tries to give him something to live for, something to push him to come home.
The Last Word Always Belongs to the Mountain
Anatoli Boukreev: There is competition between every person on this mountain. The last word always belongs to the mountain.

As Anatoli Boukreev reminds those less-experienced climbers, while everyone on the mountain is competing for something or another, it is the mountain that will always win. Truer words were never spoken.
First Mailman on Everest?
Beck Weathers: What do you do when you're not climbing, Doug?
Doug Hansen: I deliver the mail.
Beck Weathers: First mailman on Everest?
Doug Hansen: Hope so!
Beck Weathers: Ha, ha, I like that.

Prior to their climb, team members Beck Weathers and Doug Hansen get to know one another a bit. Weathers, being a doctor, seems just as unsuited for this climb as Hansen, a mailman, yet both are ready and willing.
Don't Do That to Me Again
Rob Hall: Look at me. Don't do that to me again.

When another climber falls, taking Rob with him, both men struggle to secure themselves from falling right off the mountain. They are successful, but neither want to do that ever again.
Everest is Another Beast All Together
Rob Hall: You, my friends, are following in the footsteps of history, something beyond the power of words to describe. Human beings simply aren't built to function at the cruising altitude of a 747. Our bodies will be literally dying. Everest is another beast all together.

Speaking to a group of prospective climbers, Rob Hall explains just how dangerous the journey they will soon take is. As Rob tells them, the human body is not designed for these elements.
I Wish I Was With You
Jan Arnold: How's the weather?
Rob Hall: It's good.
Jan Arnold: I wish I was with you.
Rob Hall: One day, you, me, and our little Sarah will all go climbing together.

Rob speaks to his pregnant wife, Jan, who is home while he leads a group on the Everest climb. While they can't be together right now, Rob looks forward to many great climbing experiences as a family to come.
Why?
Jon Krakauer: It hurts. It's dangerous. I gotta ask the question, you know I do. Why?
Doug Hansen: I have kids. They see a regular guy can follow impossible dreams, maybe they'll do the same.

Journalist Jon Krakauer tries to get some insight on why these average folks would attempt something so dangerous and daring as climbing Everest. As Doug explains, it's about inspiring others to do the impossible. Not too shabby.
