Former Vice Presidential candidate and governor Sarah Palin gained a reputation early on in her political career for grammatical errors, rambling run-on sentences and frequent slip-ups or mistakes while speaking. (During the 2008 campaign, the pressure on Palin to stop screwing up became so intense, she essentially backed out of the media interview circuit entirely.)
What are some dumb Sarah Palin quotes? This page collects some of Palin's most outrageous, ridiculous, silly and untrue quotes from both the 2008 campaign and her later career as a pundit, commentator and author. For more Palin gaffes, check out The 13 Social Studies Facts Sarah Palin Got Wrong.

Palin on Law
When asked about how as President she would avoid investigations similar to the one compelling her resignation as Governor of Alaska she responded, "I think on a national level your Department of Law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out."
So why is this a ridiculous quote? For those just as unfamiliar with US government agencies as Palin, there is no Department of Law. A for creativity but F for not knowing what agencies actually exist in our government.
Palin on Work Ethics
"How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make." --Sarah Palin, July 4, 2009.
She overestimated her ability to have it all. It happens to the best of us. Playing the victim here by implying people fault her for basing the decision on the welfare of her family is ridiculous. We all know you resigned to read the book you pretended to write.
Palin on Quitters
"It may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: 'Sit down and shut up,' but that's the worthless, easy path; that's a quitter's way out."
You have to love the irony of demeaning quitters after she resigns as Governor. What's wrong with the easy path anyway? Her daughter prefers being easy doesn't she? Wow that was uncalled for wasn't it?
Palin on Fishing
During a press conference discussing her resignation Sarah Palin says "Only dead fish go with the flow." -July 3, 2009.
Well I'm not from Alaska, but I'm fairly certain dead fish don't do anything and live fish definitely go with the flow. I get was she was going for...but this quote basically tells us nothing new because live fish also go with this flow.
Unless you're a certain kind of salmon and you swim upstream. THAT would have made sense. If she'd called herself a salmon.
Palin on Exploitation
"I think a lot of people are capitalizing, perhaps exploiting, what was done via me, my family, my administration..." This was in response to a question regarding Tina Fey's rise in popularity at Palin's expense.
Come on, if politicians can't be fodder for Saturday Night Live then what good are they? Also, who cares? In addition, who cares. Oh yes, and who cares?
Bonus: Tina Fey's impression was well-loved because she was ALREADY famous.
Palin On Foreign Policy
In this clip, Palin defends her experience with foreign policy after citing Alaska's proximity to Russia.
It's doubtful Russia will be invading Alaska anytime soon considering Russia cared so little about Alaska they sold it for 2 cents an acre. Come to think of it, with our current economic crisis, maybe we should just sell it back. It could be America's equivalent of selling all the DVDs you never watch on eBay to make some extra bucks after you've lost your job.
Palin on Obama's Healthcare
"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil." Aug. 7, 2009.
Death panel, evil and down syndrome baby all in one sentence. There's inflammatory and controversial then there's just ridiculous. Some of the issues involving the health care bill are scary but evil? You can call Bernie Madoff, Hitler, and banker evil but, a health care bill?
Palin on Reading the News
During this interview Katie Couric asks Sarah Palin 3 times about what she reads to stay current. The shortest clearest form of the question "Can you name a few (magazines and newspapers)?" Palin's response about geography and what the politicians in Washington think about Alaska still doesn't answer the question.
It's sad how even adult politicians are worrying about what the other cool politicians think about them. Gotta wonder if the House and Senate are just like one big Gossip Girl episode.
Palin on God and Money
"Who calls a shot like that? Who makes a decision like that? It's a disturbing trend." Nov. 6, 2009.
This ridiculous quote was in reference to a conspiracy theory she was pushing involving the word God moving further from the center on American currency. Yes, it's a vast conspiracy more complex then the Da Vinci Code. Kudos Sarah Palin for your amazing powers of observation. we shouldn't worry about such trifle topics like unemployment and the economy and start worrying about what a nickel looks like.
Palin on Porn
"Ohh, good, thank you, yes." This quote was in response to a radio show caller who admired Hustler's movie "Nailin Palin" and complimented Palin on the "documentary".
It's obvious that this quote is ridiculous considering she was being pranked by a couple of bored radio show hosts from Montreal and it's doubtful Palin's been in Hustler porn. If you hear the entire clip it's actually cruel how they string her along.
She's doing her best to handle a surprise call from an important dignitary during a busy campaign...but still, she does NOT admit to not knowing about something.
Like in the Couric interview, she responds like my deaf grandma to any question she doesn't know about: "whaaat? Oh yeah yeah, of course!"
Hey! Maybe Palin is just hard of hearing?
