Straw Dogs Movie Quotes
'Straw Dogs' movie quotes include several tense exchanges between this 2011 thriller movie's lead characters: A screenwriter (James Marsden) who moves to his wife Amy's rural Southern hometown to write and Amy's old boyfriend (Alexander Skarsgard). These are some of the best 'Straw Dogs' quotes from the film. Did I miss one? Add your favorite 'Straw Dogs' quote to the list (and vote on your favorite lines, too).

In 'Straw Dogs,' a young couple, David and Amy Sumner (James Marsden and Kate Bosworth), move to the rural Mississippi town where Amy was raised. The locals are glad to see Amy back - but they definitely take issue with David's presence. Despite his best efforts to fit in, the Hollywood screenwriter rubs everyone the wrong way, especially Amy's ex-boyfriend, former high school football hero Charlie Venner (Alexander Skarsgard). Things get very, very nasty as Charlie rallies his local gang to terrorize the couple.

2011's 'Straw Dogs' is actually a remake of a 1971 thriller directed by Sam Peckinpah. In the original, Dustin Hoffman and Susan George as David and Amy Sumner. At the time it was released, the original 'Straw Dogs' movie was really controversial - in large part because of a brutal rape scene - but also for its violence.
Straw Dogs Movie Quotes,

That's How We Do Things
David Sumner: "It's a little early, don't you think?"
Charlie Venner: "That's the way we do things around here. You get used to it."

David's first mistake: Hiring Charlie and his crew to fix up their house. Yes, they get up early and work - but then they go home, nap, drink a few beers and come back to kill you.
You're a Coward
Amy Sumner: "You're a coward."
David Sumner: "No I'm not."
Amy Sumner: "Yeah, so am I, plain and simple."

Definitely a tense scene as Amy begs David to leave with her. David refuses to be "bullied." Little does he know how far this is going to go...
Glad We Came
Amy Sumner: "What do you think?"
David Sumner: "I'm glad we came."

How sweet! A beautiful old house in rural Nowhereville, where men who carry guns like normal people carry smart phones don't like outsiders! What could possibly go wrong?
Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's Wife
David Sumner: "Hey Charlie - there is something in the bible I do believe."
Charlie Venner: "Now what’s that, sir?"
David Sumner: "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s wife."
Charlie Venner: "Well I believe in that too. But what happens when thy neighbor’s wife covets you? What then?"

This tense exchange between David and Charlie is just one of many - though this one's not quite so openly hostile. One thing is clear: David knows that Charlie's after his wife, and Charlie is doing his best to get under David's skin.
We Don't Lock Our Doors
Amy Sumner: "We all trust each other here, we don't even lock our doors."

Amy initially seems perfectly comfortable being back in her hometown of Blackwater. That safe feeling doesn't last long, though.
Watch Yourself
Charlie Venner (to David): "Can I give you a piece of friendly advice? Watch yourself."

Yet another "friendly" exchange between Amy's ex and her husband. But really, when Alexander Skarsgard tells you to "watch yourself," you should always listen.
This Is My House
David Sumner: "This is my house. I will not allow violence against this house."

Dear Mr. Sumner: I don't think this is about allowing violence. I mean how are you going to stop five armed men from coming in and killing you?
Men With Guns
Amy Sumner: "There are five men with guns outside."

And herein lies the crux of 'Straw Dogs:' Men with guns want to eliminate Amy's husband, David. And they'll stop at absolutely nothing to do it, including extreme violence.
