The Secret Life of Pets movie quotes tell the story of what pets do after their humans leave for the day. In The Secret Life of Pets, Jack Russell Max (voiced by Louis C.K.) is the happiest little dog in his one-dog home with human Katie (voiced by Ellie Kemper). He spends his days waiting patiently for her by the door and chatting with fellow pet friends, including Pomeranian Gidget (voiced by Jenny Slate), pug Mel (voiced by Bobby Moynihan), dachshund Buddy (voiced by Hannibal Burress) and cat Chloe (voiced by Lake Bell).
But when Katie brings home another dog, Duke (voiced by Eric Stonestreet), things go bad. Max and Duke fight to be Katie's top dog and end up getting picked up by animal control in the process. They're rescued, by cult leader bunny Snowball (voiced by Kevin Hart), but Max and Duke faced with the seemingly impossible task of working together to escaping the cult and finding their way back home in the busy and spacious New York City.
The Secret Life of Pets joined theaters already showing other great summer 2016 films such as Swiss Army Man, Finding Dory, Central Intelligence and Genius.

Gidget: Any plans today?
Max: Yes, big, big stuff today, Gidget. I got big plans. I'm gonna sit here and I'm gonna wait for Katie to come back.
Gidget: Oh, that sounds exciting. Well, I won't interrupt. I've got a very busy day too.
Gidget and Max discuss the big plans they have for their days while their humans go to work. Max is focused on waiting by the door for Katie while a nap in the sun seems like Gidget's priority.
This is Duke
Katie: Hey Maximilian! I have some big news. Max, this is Duke.
Max: [gasps]
Katie: He's going to be your... brother.

Max: Chloe, Chloe, I've got a bad situation. Katie brought home a psychopath from the pound. I don't even have a bed now. I'm sleeping on the floor like a dog.
Chloe: I'm your friend and as your friend, I've got to be honest with you. I don't care about you or your problems.
Max is not happy when Katie brings home another dog, Duke, from the pound. He tries to talk to Chloe about the problem, but as a cat, she really couldn't care less.
Max is Missing
Gidget: Max is missing! We've got to find him!

Max: Katie's going to be worried sick. We had a good thing going. I blame myself.
Duke: Yeah, me too. I blame you a lot.

Max and Duke go missing, at least to Gidget. Really though, they've been picked up by animal control. Luckily, Snowball is there to break them out.
I Miss Her So Much
Katie: Max, I'll see you tonight.
Max: Oh, I miss her so much! ... She's back!
Katie: I forgot my phone.
Max: Ugh. I miss her so much.
When Katie leaves Max for the day, Max has only one thing on his mind. He misses his human and will wait patiently for her to return.
Katie's Going to Be So Upset
Max: Oh, Duke, Katie's going to be so upset when she sees that. She's going to flip out.
Duke: It's just one vase.
Max: Is it, Duke? Is it? Oh, that's a shame!
After Duke breaks a vase, Max gets an idea. Perhaps breaking other things in the house and blaming it on Duke will get Katie to get rid of Duke once and for all.
Your New Roommate
Gidget: Hi Max, who's your new roommate?
Max: He's going to be gone soon!
Gidget notices that Max has a new friend, his new roommate Duke. Max is far from happy about this development and assures Gidget that Duke is not going to be staying long.
Where... Is... Max?!
Gidget: Where... is... Max?! Tell me!
Ozone: Help me!
Gidget: Don't look at him! Look at me!
Looking for Max, Gidget interrogates hairless cat Ozone on a rooftop. Ozone is a bit frightened by the situation, especially as the bird up there watching the whole thing isn't coming to his rescue.
We Can Find Our Way Home
Max: We can find our way home. We are descended from the mighty wolf! We have raw primal instincts that are moments away from leading us home.
Duke: Isn't home that way?
Max: Seriously?
Max gives himself and Duke a pep talk when they find themselves lost in New York City with no idea on how to get back home. While dogs do have great primal instincts, they don't do much when the two get on a boat going the opposite direction of their destination.
