Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Movie Quotes
"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" movie quotes follow the action in this new installment in the "Planet of the Apes" film series. A sequel to 2011's "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," the movie was directed by Matt Reeves using a screenplay by Mark Bomback, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The science fiction film opened on July 11, 2014.

In "Dawn of Planet of the Apes," four years have passed since the events in the last film, including when a deadly virus, connected to the apes, killed off numerous humans. While the two sides, humans and apes, found a peace after that tragedy, tensions in the time sense have risen leading them back to the brink of war once again.

On one side, Dreyfus (Gary Oldman), leader of the humans, vows to avenge the deaths of his wife and sons from the virus by going to war with the apes. He feels that the only way for humans to survive is to eliminate the ape population completely. On the other side, human Malcolm (Jason Clarke) sees no threat in the apes, especially as he's built a friendship with ape Caesar (Andy Serkis). As much as Malcolm urges peace and insists that both sides only want to keep their families safe, war begins and in the end, only one side will prevail.

"Dawn of Planet of the Apes" busts into theaters already roaring with other great films including "Tammy," "Earth to Echo," "Deliver Us from Evil," "Transformers: Age of Extinction," "Snowpiercer," "Begin Again," "They Came Together," "Think Like a Man Too," "22 Jump Street, "How to Train Your Dragon 2," "Hellion," "The Rover," The Fault in Our Stars," "Edge of Tomorrow," "A Million Ways to Die in the West," "Maleficent," "Night Moves," "Filth," "Blended," and "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

It's Our Only Chance for Peace
Malcolm: "We both have families. You want to protect yours. I want to protect mine. It's our only chance for peace."

Malcolm speaks with Caesar as the humans and apes are on the brink of war. Both sides only want to protect their families and to do that, they need to fight one another first.
They Are Animals!
Dreyfus: "Are you aware, they are going to turn on you? They are animals!"
Malcolm: "They don't want a war."

Malcolm and Dreyfus argue about the true nature of apes. Malcolm believes them to be innocent and peaceful but Dreyfus is convinced that the apes are evil.
If You Threaten His Family
Malcolm: "If you threaten his family, he will retaliate."

Malcolm tries to talk some sense into those looking to battle the apes. His efforts to convince them that the apes will only attack when provoked, as a manner of defending themselves, is missed.
To Reclaim the World We Lost
Dreyfus: "We've been through hell together! We spent four years, four years fighting that virus, and then another four fighting each other! It was chaos! But you, you all know what we're up against! And I want you to know, it's not just about power! It's about giving us the hope to rebuild, to reclaim the world we lost!"

Dreyfus addresses a crowd that has gathered en route to a battle with the apes. As he explains, a virus connected to the apes wiped out a great deal of the human population four years ago and Dreyfus is doing all he can to make sure that doesn't happen again.
Apes Do Not Want War!
Caesar: "Apes do not want war!"

Ape leader Caesar explains that deep down, his crew does not want to fight with humans, rather wishes for a world full of peace and coexistence. While he might not want war, one might be coming to them regardless.
That's What Makes Them Stronger
Werner: "You know the scary thing about them? They don't need power, lights, heat, nothing. That's their advantage. That's what makes them stronger."

Werner points out how humans and apes differ in their basic needs. Apes don't need all of the first world necessities that humans do and in terms of going to war, that works to the apes' benefit.
Saving the Human Race
Malcolm: "What are you doing?"
Dreyfus: "I'm saving the human race."

Malcolm is irate that Dreyfus has started a war with the apes, something Malcolm sees as unnecessary. Dreyfus, on the other hand, makes no apologies for what he sees as protecting the human race.
Caesar Love Humans More Than Apes
Koba: "Caesar love humans more than apes."

Ape Koba begins to doubt the true allegiance of ape leader Caesar. He fears that Caesar's friendship with Malcolm has turned him against the apes.
War Has Begun
Malcolm: "Caesar, you have to go!"
Caesar: "Go, where? This my home. I'm sorry, my friend. War has begun."

Hoping to keep his friend Caesar safe, Malcolm urges Caesar to take his family and flee. Caesar though has no intention of leaving his home and is hunkering down for a war.
We Made Contact, Military
Dreyfus: "We made contact, military. They're already on their way."

Dreyfus wasn't kidding when he vowed war with the apes. He got the military involved and war is upon them.
