Deliver Us from Evil Movie Quotes
"Deliver Us from Evil" movie quotes tell the story of a non-believing cop who joins forces with a Castilian/Hungarian priest to investigate paranormal happenings in New York City. The crime-horror film was written by Scott Derrickson and Paul Harris Boardman, based on the book "Beware the Night" by Ralph Sarchie and Lisa Collier Cool. Derrickson also directed the movie, which opened on July 2, 2014.

In "Deliver Us from Evil," Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana) is a seasoned New York City cop trying his best to balance his work life with his home life, including with wife Jen (Olivia Munn) and daughter Christina (Lulu Wilson). He's called in to investigate a strange case where a woman was violent alongside partner Butler (Joel McHale).

Sarchie soon meets Mendoza, a Castilian/Hungarian priest who seeks out Sarchie to help with this investigation. Mendoza tries to convince Sarchie that there are paranormal evil forces at work here but Sarchie, someone who lost his faith in those sorts of things, is not a believer. As they investigate further, however, the odd happenings start to hit home leaving Sarchie and his family in danger.

An Evil Spirit Is Infecting the People
Sarchie: "Something's happening all over the city."
Mendoza: "An evil spirit is infecting the people."
Sarchie: "You think they are possessed?"

Mendoza tries to get through to Sarchie that what is happening, what is infecting people around the city, is something supernatural. While Sarchie doesn't immediately dismiss the idea, he's not especially buying it either.
Some Woman Flipped Out
Butler: "Hey, Sergeant Sarchie."
Sarchie: "What's the damage here?"
Butler: "Some woman flipped out."

Sarchie arrives on the scene of the case that sets off the chain of events in the rest of the story. He learns that a woman has flipped out and is tasked with understanding why.
Why Doesn't Daddy Go to Church With Us?
Christina: "Why doesn't daddy go to church with us?"
Jen: "Your daddy used to go."

Sarchie's relationship, or lack there of, with religion is highlighted. He lost his faith in God long ago, something that is proving to be very important in his current investigation.
I Love You and I Miss You
Christina: "Hi, daddy. I'm going to sleep now. First I want to tell you that I love you and I miss you."
Jen: "Here, give daddy a kiss." [to Sarchie] "Be safe tonight."

Sarchie's family is introduced when his daughter, Christina, and wife, Jen, send him a video message at work. Both with Sarchie was home more often and worked in a less dangerous job.
I Came to See Officer Sarchie
Mendoza: "I came to see Officer Sarchie."
Sarchie: "I've met a lot of priests. You don't seem the type."
Mendoza: "And there's not a lot of cops and you're exactly the type."

Mendoza seeks out Officer Sarchie to ask for help on some strange happenings around town. There was no mistake or randomness in this meeting, Mendoza selected Sarchie for a reason.
Something's Happening to Me
Sarchie: "I've had a darkness growing inside of me. Something's happening to me. Tell me you saw that."
Mendoza: "You can sense what others can't but it also puts you at risk. Your family's already in danger."

Sarchie isn't denying the paranormal forces anymore, especially as he witnesses something happening to himself. Mendoza is relieved that he's gotten through to Sarchie, but has more news to share before it's all said and done.
Two Types of Evil in This World
Mendoza: "There's two types of evil in this world, Officer Sarchie, secondary evil, the evil that men do, and primary evil, which is something else entirely."
Sarchie: "I've seen some horrible things, nothing that can't be explained by human nature."
Mendoza: "Then you haven't seen true evil."

Sergeant Sarchie is approached by Mendoza, a Castilian/Hungarian priest. While Sarchie isn't believing this evil nonsense Mendoza is spewing, but that doesn't discourage Mendoza from explaining what he thinks is happening.
Every Religion Has Practiced Exorcism
Mendoza: "You'll hear three voices. One of the voices is coming from a five-year-old girl. Every culture, every religion has practiced exorcism."

To get Sarchie to believe, Mendoza offers up an audio recording of an exorcism as proof. For Sarchie, it is becoming hard not to believe in what Mendoza is saying.
